Position Description

Einstein Healthcare Network is a private, not for profit organization with several major facilities and many outpatient centers. In this role you will be responsible for:

Responsible for direct patient care and assisting other clinical staff in a professional manner according to established policies, procedures and standards of care as clinically appropriate.

Greets and assists all patients and visitors to the office.
Performs all clerical duties related to patient check-in, scheduling, insurance verification, billing and payment collection, system task management, message taking, file maintenance and responding to correspondence.
This position requires clear, written and oral communication. This position requires providing service to the following age population(s): pediatric, adolescent, adult, older adult, frail elderly in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.

HS diploma or equivalent work as outlined in this document (in a very similar setting may be considered as equivalent to an accredited MA program) is required.

Knowledge/familiarity with general office functions and procedures including ICD-9 codes, CPT coding, medical terminology and HIPAA regulations is required. Experience using computer in an office setting is required
Ability to verbally communicate information to staff and patients, professionally and in a timely manner is required.
Ability to perform clinical functions such as veni-puncture, finger sticks, injections, and lab/specimen prep is required
One year of medical office experience is preferred.
Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (5 years of continuous MA is preferred).
Current certification from the Medical Associate of Medical Assistants and CPR certification preferred.

Physical Demands:

Physical Requirements: Standing, sitting, walking, lifting minimum of 25 pounds, bending, stooping, reaching, assisting patients, moving patients

Visual Requirements: Ability to read patient charts, equipment and instrument output
Hearing Requirements: Ability to use stethoscope
Working Conditions: normal medical office environment with adequate heating, ventilation and lighting
