Job Title: Community Outreach Coordinator

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Work Hours: Part-Time 24 hours per week

Compensation: Grade Level 204

Reports To:  Director, Care & Support

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for building relationships, developing community collaborations, assisting with professional outreach, public education, increasing awareness, and recruiting, coaching, and managing volunteers. Under the direct supervision of the department leader, this position requires significant teamwork and collaboration with staff, volunteers and community partners to fulfill the mission of the organization. Geographic area of responsibility is Southeastern PA – Philadelphia. The Coordinator works in a support role to the department leader to manage a portfolio of relationships critical to advancing the chapter’s reach. 

This is a part-time, benefits eligible position working 24 hours per week. Schedule is flexible, but needs to include some full-days in order to accommodate business needs.

Responsibilities

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct community engagement efforts to locally assigned constituencies including: professional providers, family caregivers, persons living with dementia, community organizations, volunteers and other community stakeholders. 
    1. Build and strategically expand the number of Alzheimer’s Association community volunteers and partner organizations through year-round outreach.
    2. Engage, train and manage relationships with community volunteers to expand the Alzheimer’s Association’s visibility and programmatic reach within assigned area. 
    3. Conduct annual goal-setting and performance evaluations of community volunteers. 
    4. Represent the chapter as needed at community events and networking groups.
    5. Targeted outreach to key constituencies to promote the Association, assess community needs and identify new opportunities for service delivery; as needed in market, organization, lead and conduct community forums in order to develop an informed and community-focused plan for service delivery.
    6. Ensure quality assurance and tracking measures are in place for collection of program data, i.e. Personify, CSQEI, etc. 
    7. Provide leadership and/or support as needed for special events, programs, conferences, both internal and external to the organization.
    1. Expand programming opportunities through diversity and inclusion outreach to priority diverse populations among Hispanic/Latino, African American and LGBT constituencies.
    2. Support the implementation of the chapter’s health systems/long-term care strategy.
    • Represent the Association, increase awareness, and generally serve as a community representative across all areas of work.
      1. Maintain working knowledge of key Association priorities
      2. Speak and/or participate in community presentations and programs. 
      3. Participate in community health fairs and other community outreach activities. 
        1. All staff are required to support and participate in special events and fund development activities as requested
        2. All staff are expected to support and participate in formal advocacy and public policy activities as requested

        Qualifications  

        • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in voluntary health, human services, gerontology, nursing or a related field.
        • Two years of experience in human service program service delivery, preferably in aging field and/or within diverse communities.

        Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

        • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
        • Strong Public Health, Voluntary Health experience highly preferred.
        • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% within Chapter territory by car. Travel in this case is considered time spent away from an office, in the community, to fulfill job goals. 
        • Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and access to reliable personal vehicle to meet travel requirements.
        • Ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff and external contacts to build and maintain successful teams.
        • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities.
        • Ability to anticipate, identify, organize opportunities to expand services.
        • Ability to coach, mentor and develop volunteers.
        • Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and electronically to variety of audiences.
        • Ability to work effectively with diverse population.
        • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
        • Combination of remote work environment and work in local chapter office 
        • High volume of public contact.
        • Evening and weekend hours may be required
        • Work may be stressful during periods of high volume or tight deadlines.
