Position Summary

Advanced technology professional providing expertise to assure the effective performance of key Enterprise Data Warehouse platforms and tools (on-site and cloud). Seen by IT colleagues as a technical resource in all phases of implementing and administering EDWs and associate tools.

• Support & Troubleshooting - Provides 3rd level support and troubleshooting for issues escalated from more junior engineers on installed technical solutions. Lead or participate in SWAT teams involving mission critical platforms.  Leads in the evaluation of new technologies relative to their domain(s) and makes strategic recommendation.
• Performance Management/Capacity Management - Implements recommendations to ensure optimal performance and reliability for mission critical and global enterprise systems.
• Platform Design - Works independently to design environments of increasing complexity and scope.  Contributes to design specifications for cross system environments.
• Process Automation - Performs complex design and planning on overall automation at the platform level. The role is also expected to mentor team members to foster growth in their skills.
• Platform Provisioning - Directs and implements infrastructure per prescribe specifications.
• Release Engineering - Directs and implements major platform and cross-functional release functions, typically having significant complexity and dependency needs.

  Technical Expertise

  Expert in multiple facets of database and data warehousing technology platforms and can independently evaluate and drive resolution of all problems in their core competencies.  Drives standards for all layers of their designated technology platform and influences standardization requirements beyond their core area of focus.  Strong understanding & usage of distributed systems, cloud technology, virtualization and security methodologies. Possesses thorough understanding of the current technology environment and security controls.  Maintains and extends expertise in designated technology platform while also demonstrating knowledge of emerging technologies and adjacent platform areas.  Ensures Platform Engineering principles and best practices are being implemented consistently within and across designated platform boundaries.  Executes and Manages large scale automation efforts in support of platform solutions delivery.  Executes and Manages mid to large level platform tuning activities delivering process and system efficiency improvements.  Leads and sets direction on multiple aspects of Application Performance Management monitoring solutions.

  Other Duties, Responsibilities, and Activities as Assigned

  Functions independently and receives limited direction. Work in progress is reviewed as required.

  Provides guidance to other team members with their assignments (e.g., onboarding junior team members).

  Participates in on-call rotation.

  7+ years of Data Warehouse Platform Engineering experience including cloud, database administration, Data Warehousing (Teradata and Big Query) and ETL tool (Informatica) administration

  BS in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent experience
